Effective Microorganism (EM)
In 1982 Dr.Higa at the University of Ryukyus, Okinawa Japan, discovered a specific group of naturally occurring beneficial microorganisms with an amazing ability to revive, restore, and preserve. He named this group E.M. (Effective microorganisms).
EM is a natural living thing which contain trillions of good microbes per milliliter liquid. The mother culture of EM can be divided into several other products such as EMAS (active solution), Bokashi and EM mudballs.
The microorganisms involve in EM are Phototrophic Bacteria, Lactic Acid Bacteria and Yeast. These microbes create a symbiosis property between them and also to the area they were applied. There are many usages of EM for example for waste water treatment, animal husbandry, agriculture, aquaculture, buildings and also household application.

EM-1 by EMRO
EM by EMRO Developed by Professor Terua Higa from the University of Ryukyus, Professor Higa believes that the EM play a key role in solving problems regarding food supply, environmental preservation, medical care and energy supply. EM can replace chemicals in agriculture which leads to lower pollution in the environment whilst providing a supply of high quality food at low cost

EMAS (EM Activated Solution)
EMAS is EM1 that has been cultivated with Molasses. The purpose is to activate the microbe in EM-1 to make it more active and ready to use. The microbe in EMAS is generally high CFU/ml (Colony forming unit) content than EM-1 because it has been cultivate and multiply with the use of Molasses.
Moreover EMAS is more efficient than EM-1 because the microbe is active and have high CFU/ml content. The only drawback is that the shelf life is shorter than EM-1.
